Meam Hartshorn was born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado, where she cultivated a love for art-making and the outdoors from an early age.

Growing up in the valley of the Uncompahgre Uplift and Colorado River, nature plays an integral role in her work. Her work explores natural phenomena, such as geologic history, life cycles, and symbiotic relationships. Inspired by these concepts, many of her paintings look as if something is growing and evolving upon the surface.

Meam studied studio art and painting at Kenyon College. After graduating with distinction and receiving the Robert H. Hallstein Memorial Award in Art, she lives and works in Austin, TX. Meam has exhibited her work across the country, works as an arts educator, and she is the founder of The Artful Collective, an arts platform providing resources and opportunities for emerging artists.
